IPSB Supports Fire Fighters

Updated: Mar 26

Today (May 10, 2023) launched the first in a series of events hosted by the Los Angeles Fire Department to promote wellness for our city's fire fighters.

IPSB Volunteers (Linda Ouch & T.J. Spuar) and the Volunteer program coordinators (Cyndi & Sabrina Ortolano) worked on nearly 60 firefighters over a 5 hour period. It was a wonderful experience and we are so happy to get to give back to these people who work so hard to keep us safe here in LA.

There will be 4 more of these health fair events over the next few months along with other partnered events to support the LAFD if you'd like to volunteer we still have a few spots and would love to have any alumni join us.

Students who have taken (or are planning on taking) our Event Massage class can apply these volunteer hours to the 16 required to take the class for free. If you want to volunteer but you've never done the event massage class we will give you a tutorial at the start of the day and we do encourage our students to at least have taken Advanced Modalities so you are familiar with compressions as during health fairs the clients are clothed and they are short sessions (average of 15 minutes each), we focus on stretching, compression and spot work for specific complaints.

This is a great way to network and meet new potential clients while caring for our city's first responders in a tangible way. During fire season we will be reaching out to see which Fire Stations we can set up at to provide care while they're working. If you're interested in that, be sure to email Sabrina@ipsb.com to be added to the volunteer list so we can contact you when we have dates.

Thank you to all the generous students and alumni that make our volunteer program such a wonderful expression of support for our community.
